Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. She has been praised for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her including an Oscar. The actress of distinction began her acting career on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. Passionate about acting since her elementary school days, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. She became deaf in one ear after suffering from mellitus, but didn't have this limitation deter her determination to become an actor. She studied theater in college and then moved in New York City in pursuit of her dream. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and the two collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to be a film actor and eventually landed the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. Over the past three decades Holly Hunter has been on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
